Mindfulness Meditation

meditate

We offer group mindfulness meditation programs for adults and adolescents.

The group programs are suitable for individuals who experience anxiety, depression, stress and other emotional problems. They introduce participants to the philosophy of mindful meditation and its application to emotional disorders through experiential learning. Participants are encouraged to observe and engage in all elements of life without reactivity or adopting habitual unhelpful or ruminative thinking patterns.

Groups are facilitated by Desné Doman, a clinical psychologist and mindfulness instructor. They are based on mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), an intervention known to be effective in treating anxiety, stress and depression and to reduce the likelihood of relapse. It has also been found to have positive benefits for the immune system and assists in pain management. Participants who are under a mental health care plan will be eligible to claim a medicare rebate for this course, in addition to the rebate available for individual sessions.

Monthly drop-in groups are available to people who have completed our group program.
